Surfing Rules

Let’s start with one of the most important rules. Every rule listed will be important, but this one can leave you paralyzed, so it’s something we should cover right away. Do not, ever, under any circumstances, ride a wave too close to the shore. The water behind you is extremely powerful and the beach is much harder than you think when traveling at high speeds. Please use caution. This happened to me once when I was caught by a rogue wave. It was the only time in my life I literally saw stars. At first, I thought I was paralyzed. It was a very scary moment. I wouldn’t want anyone else to have to go through it. Another thing in which surfing rules are important is at the internet - while playing online games or similar actions.

Now that that’s covered, let’s get to the other stuff. Though I don’t think it’s an absolute necessity, it can’t hurt to warm-up your body prior to going in. This consists of stretching and light cardio. If you’ve had anything to drink, don’t enter the water. You’re putting yourself and others at risk. That board can be deadly if used incorrectly. If you see some monster waves out there and you’re not sure if you should attempt it, don’t do it. Surfing in USA is a time for fun, not heroics. It’s recommended you don’t enter the water if you just finished lunch. Most of the time, the ocean is a clean place. You don’t need to be ruining it for everyone else by yaking in it. If you get caught in a rip current, swim with it along the shore, otherwise, you’ll be lost at sea.
Always use Sun Block. Keep an eye out for people around you. It could prevent an injury, or maybe even save a life. Know what kind of shape you’re in and only enter conditions you know you can handle if something goes wrong. If swimming out, keep board with you at all times. This is for the safety of others. If riding in, toss. This is for your safety.
