Best Breaks
Let’s start with the obvious – North Shore, Oahu, Hawaii. Other hot spots come and go, but this one is always at the top of the list. With a nickname like ‘Wild Water,’ how could it not?The North Shore is a twenty-mile stretch of white sandy beaches and a flawless array of potential surfing adventures. It can also be dangerous. For instance, in the winter months, the waves can get as high as 20 – 30 feet. That’s dangerous for anyone, regardless of their experience or skill level. If you’re into big-wave surfing, Waimea Beach is the place to be. If you’re more into sweet, long rides, check out Banzai Pipeline.
If you feel like heading south, another great surfing location is Tamarindo, Costa Rica. The waves here can reach 9 feet, but the greatest appeal is the excellent weather and nightlife. It’s a good place to go if you want a change of scenery of online games. The best breaks are at Little Hawaii and Witches Rock. Be careful of the rocks below.
If you’re really adventurous and want to visit one of the most amazing surf spots on the planet, head to Jeffrey’s Bay in South Africa. This popular spot is often referred to as J-Bay. If you go in July, you can watch the best surfers in the world compete in Billabong Pro at Supertubes.
The waves at J-Bay can reach about 10 feet, but the primary appeal here is consistency. You can also take a short trip in either direction and find plenty of beaches where the ocean is offering long rides. This site is highly recommended. You will never forget it.
Of course, these are only three of the top surf spots in the world. There are so many out there. Some might still be undiscovered.
